Former state historian Bill O’Neal will bring a presentation on “John S. ‘Rip’ Ford, Texian Hero” to the Lampasas County Courthouse Monday at 6 p.m. Ford was considered a soldier extraordinaire and an important figure in the formation of Texas.

Eve’s Café to close

Eve’s Café has served Lampasas County residents everything from pastries to pork schnitzels along the downtown square for 29 years. At the end of the month, the journey is set to come to an end.Owner Eve Sanchez said the last two years have been tough to manage.

Sales tax allocations to Texas cities, counties and special purposes districts reflected a decrease this month, compared to March 2023 rebates. Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced that total revenue across the state was down 2% in March.

Brush Chipping Program

The spring brush-chipping service offered by the city of Lampasas will continue through the end of the month.From March 18-22, trucks will collect brush available curbside at residences on the southeast side of town – for those who live south of First Street and east of Key Avenue.
