Constables officially take office

Bond for two constables was approved Monday morning by the Lampasas County Commissioners Court. In March, the Commissioners Court appointed Bob Montgomery to fill the Precinct 1 constable position, previously held by Dennis James, and Mandy Esparza to fill the vacant Precinct 4 constable position.

‘It can happen to you’: Child advocates discuss experience with abuse

Lampasas County child abuses cases continue to increase, but officials and surviving families believe the issue can be mitigated with local services focused on education and awareness. Haylee Brewer was no stranger to child abuse cases due to her nine years on the Lampasas County Child Welfare Board and her two terms as board vice president, but she saw a new side of things when her daughter became an abuse survivor in 2020.

Kempner city secretary attends solar eclipse roundtable

Representatives from Kempner joined close to 100 people for a virtual meeting to gear up for the total solar eclipse expected in April 2024. The Hill Country Alliance is a collaborative group of municipal leaders and business owners seeking “to preserve the open spaces, starry night skies, clean and abundant waters, and unique character” of the Hill Country.

Newspaper earns sweepstakes runner-up recognition in contest

The Lampasas Dispatch Record garnered the second-highest number of points among semiweekly newspapers entered in the West Texas Press Association’s 2022 Better Newspaper Contest. The sweepstakes award is based on the number of top honors earned across a variety of categories.
