Lampasas cancels May election in brief called meeting Friday

The Lampasas City Council canceled the May municipal election and approved a number of small business items during a special called meeting on Friday. After cancellation of the regular meeting set for March 11, City Secretary Becky Sims said the council held a called meeting on Friday at noon to take care of a few time-sensitive items.

Career day at Hanna Springs campus

Hanna Springs Elementary School students enjoyed spending time in a Lampasas Police Department vehicle during last Thursday’s career day. More than 17 different professionals were available to chat with all grade levels.

Community Champion recognized posthumously

Brenda Smith, the Lampasas Dispatch Record office manager, was honored posthumously with the Misti Talbert Community Champion Award. Accepting the award are her brother, Paul Hall and wife Lisa, and her nephew Levi Burney, pictured in center to right with Mayor Herb Pearce and members of the Lampasas City Council.

25 years and counting

The longest-tenured coach at Lampasas High School is the Badgers’ tennis coach, Kenneth Peiser, who is in his 25th season and plans to be around for several more years. Peiser has been with the Lampasas school district since 1999.

Track teams compete in Marble Falls meet

Last Thursday, the Lampasas track teams hit the road to Marble Falls for the third track meet of the season. Team results were not listed on the meet website, but all individual results were available.

Lampasas County 27th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over a limited docket. Defendant Wylinda Dee Cook of Lampasas entered a plea of guilty to a charge of health care fraud equal to or greater than $2,500 and less than $30,000.
