The Junior Pierian Club was treated to a floral arrangement class for the February meeting by longstanding Pierian Club member Karen Cambon. The girls created arrangements and delivered them to Lampasas Assisted Living for residents to enjoy in their dining room in advance of Valentine’s Day.

Multi-year reunion set during Diamondback Jubilee

Lometa’s Annual Diamondback Jubilee has always served to help the community come together. This year is no exception, as Lometa’s Class of 1985 will hold its 40-year reunion on March 29 during the jubilee weekend.

Free eight-week nutrition program offered in Killeen

AdventHealth Central Texas has announced it will offer its Healthy Eating and Nutrition Program. The first session of the program is Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. inside conference room 3 & 4 of the main hospital at 2201 S. Clear Creek Rd. in Killeen.

Hospital to celebrate 90th anniversary

Lampasas County Museum has opened its newest special exhibit, this one recognizing the upcoming anniversary of the hospital’s opening in 1935. The museum, at 303 S. Western Ave., is open Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Lampasas County 27th District Court convened last week with Judge Debbie Garrett presiding over the day’s hearings.Defendant Clifford Brandon Madding of Austin garnered five years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Kempner council reviews draft of firearms ordinance

Kempner City Council members reviewed two possible firearms ordinances during Tuesday’s regular meeting. A request for the city to regulate firearms use followed resident complaints in December about nighttime gunfire.

An alliance in the Central Texas region to boost water supply and infrastructure is becoming a reality, according to Kempner Water Supply Corp. General Manager Bruce Sorenson.Creation of the new alliance entity will require approval through the Texas Legislature.
