City Council OKs sign project, new lighting for Turner Field

At Monday’s meeting, the Lampasas City Council approved a much-discussed project to upgrade the lighting at Turner Field.

Commissioners unseal bids for courthouse renovation project

The Lampasas County Commissioners Court announced in Monday’s regular meeting that two bids have been received to complete renovations on the county’s historic courthouse.The bids came from RKJ Construction of Lampasas and Premier Commercial Group, based in Haltom City.

Work to upgrade signal controls in Lampasas will continue Dec. 2-6, the Texas Department of Transportation has announced.Crews will work at the intersections of U.S. 190 at Fourth Street, U.S. 183 at U.S. 190, and Key Avenue at Ninth Street. Work will be performed between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Vision Lampasas volunteers have been working to complete their 15th mural in the city. This painting, to be named “All roads lead to Lampasas,” is featured on the side of the Lampasas County Chamber of Commerce building at 205 South U.S. Highway 281. On the ladder, at right, is Dianna Hodges.

Amateur radio license testing Dec. 14

Testing for those interested in obtaining an amateur radio license will take place Dec. 14 at 10 a.m. at the Lampasas Middle School Radio Club station. Parking is available in the lot off West Seventh Street at the rear of the school building.

Jerry Christian home on tour next month

The home of Jerry and Sheila Christian will be part of this year’s Tour of Homes. The ranch-style abode, along with other Lampasas County residences to be featured, will be open for touring on Dec. 8 as part of the Lampasas County Museum’s annual yuletide fundraiser.

FFA team performs well at Kerrville competition

Lampasas FFA members traveled to Area VII Leadership Development Events in Kerrville on Nov. 20. All four entries won a banner, adviser Judy Hail announced.“We are so proud of our kids and can’t wait to see more great accomplishments from them in the future,” Hail said.
