Kempner council votes down firearms ordinance

After a lengthy discussion, Kempner City Council members decided not to approve a new ordinance regulating the discharge of firearms within city limits. The council turned down the proposed rules during its regular meeting on April 8.
Sales tax allocations in April brought mixed results for area cities. Rebates across the state were down almost 4% from what was paid out in April 2024, according to statistics released by the Texas Comptroller’s Office.

The monthly sales tax percentage comparison for the city of Kempner dipped into negative territory for the first time since July 2021, as its April payment was down 1%.Kempner had posted double-digit percentage gains every month but one for all of 2023 and 2024.

Family dispute leads to shots fired, one dead in Lampasas

Lampasas County sheriff’s deputies found a Lampasas male deceased on April 4 at 3320 County Road 1020.Sheriff David Parker described the incident as a domestic disturbance. He said it represented no threat to the public but was a family dispute that went bad.
