’36 Club brings home awards from recent Capitol District gathering

Juli Chaney received the Outstanding Clubwoman Volunteer of the Year award at the April 2 meeting of the Capitol District of the General Federation of Women’s Club.The meeting took place in Killeen.The Lampasas ’36 Club also earned six other awards.

The Lampasas County Historical Commission and Oran Milo Roberts Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas co-hosted a presentation April 7 by Dr. Bill O’Neal on “The Miracle at San Jacinto.

Middle school tennis teams play in Mason tournament

The seventh- and eighth-grade tennis teams traveled to Mason last weekend, where they gained a lot of experience playing some tough competition. Several Lampasas Middle School players emerge with medals.Jack Allison won first place in the eighth-grade boys’ “A” singles division.

Commissioners pass resolution against rail line, get update on courthouse renovations

The Lampasas County Commissioners Court issued a strong rebuke of the 26.9mile proposed railroad by Texas Materials Inc. Action came in Monday’s regular court meeting.
