Community clean-up workday slated for Oak Hill Cemetery

The Oak Hill Cemetery board and city of Lampasas are asking community members to gather at Oak Hill Cemetery on Saturday from 3-6 p.m. for a cleanup.Volunteers are asked to bring their lawnmowers, weed eaters and safety goggles to help restore and maintain this space.

Threat addressed at middle school

A threat made by a Lampasas Middle School student Thursday is under investigation by the Lampasas Police Department.LMS Principal Wes Graham issued a letter Thursday evening to notify parents of the situation.

Citizens express concerns about proposed rail line

Lampasas County residents were not shy to offer thoughts on a proposed 26.9-mile railroad line. Numerous citizens showed up at Monday’s Lampasas County Commissioners Court and Lampasas City Council meetings to voice their opinions.

Uryan Nelson, the director of planning and regional services for Central Texas Council of Governments, provided Kempner City Council members with insight into the creation of an Emergency Communications District. He made his presentation Tuesday night at the council’s regularly scheduled meeting.

Rain predicted this week could help alleviate drought

Weather forecasts at press time showed a glimmer of hope for the rain-craving Texas Hill Country.Lampasas had received only about a third of an inch of rain over the last six weeks, through Wednesday.

A celebration to mark the 90th anniversary of the Rollins Brook hospital will take place Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the M.D. Abel Building, 401 E.
