EDC, City Council axe joint meeting

The Lampasas Economic Development Corp. planned to host a joint meeting alongside the Lampasas City Council on Wednesday. However, those plans were canceled hours before the meeting.A new date for a joint meeting has not been set, according to Lampasas City Manager Erin Corbell.

Fire chief retires after several decades with city

After more than 20 years of service to the city of Lampasas, Fire Chief Joe Adams officially has retired. His last day was May 30.Adams served as the chief for about a year and a half, but he worked full time for the fire department for almost 24 years and was a volunteer firefighter before that.

Bridge work continues

The Texas Department of Transportation work to replace the East Third Street Bridge at Burleson Creek continues. Work began mid-January, and the project is expected to last for six months.

LCAD board says yes to 78% budget increase for 2026

The Lampasas Central Appraisal District Board of Directors approved Chief Appraiser Juan Saucedo’s proposed $1.589 million budget for 2026 with minimal pushback, greenlighting a $600,000 increase from this year’s budget.Action came during Thursday’s regular LCAD board meeting.

Railroad Crossing Closed

Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway will close the railroad crossing at FM 2313 in Kempner on Wednesday for repairs. Work will begin at 7 a.m., and the crossing will reopen at approximately 5 p.m. that day after work is completed.

Benny Raymond “Skipper” Wallace of Lampasas – longtime Lampasas County Republican Party chairman and former city manager -- died May 31, 2025 at the age of 80.Visitation will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel on June 5 from 6-8 p.m.
