Pecan Short Course planned in Goldthwaite for April 9

The annual Central Texas Pecan Program will be conducted by the Texas AgriLife Extension Office in Mills County on April 9 at the Mills County Civic Center, 1103 Cline St. in Goldthwaite. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., and the program will extend from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Chief appraiser addresses budget amendments

Prior to a meeting scheduled for Thursday evening, Lampasas Central Appraisal District Chief Appraiser Juan Saucedo provided a summary of proposed budgetary amendments for the district in 2025. The LCAD board of directors will hold a meeting on Thursday, March 27 at 5:30 p.m.

Hoyer gives update on courthouse project

RKJ Construction Inc. is continuing its renovation work at the county courthouse. The project is expected to be finished near the end of 2025.

New non-profit to aid Lampasas Animal Shelter

A new local non-profit organization is ready to support the Lampasas Animal Shelter and its needs.S.A.F.E. Lampasas -- which stands for Supporting Animals, Facilities and Employees of the Lampasas Animal Shelter -- received its 501(c)(3) status earlier this month and has begun operations.

Texas lawmakers are looking to ban student cellphone use in K-12 classrooms to limit distractions during instruction time.House Bill 1481, authored by Rep.
