This week, the Lampasas County Higher Education Center kicked off its College for Kids summer learning program, with help from the Lampasas Police Department. On Tuesday and Wednesday, children ages 7 to 11 participated in the Jr.

Many events are in store for the month of June at the Lampasas Public Library. The summer reading program has begun for children of all ages.

Lampasas High School cheerleaders are on hand for a drive-through pork chop dinner, held Monday at the campus parking lot. Benny Boyd auto dealership provided food for the event, and proceeds will benefit the cheer program.

The June regular meeting of the Lometa City Council featured only one agenda item on Monday. That item saw no new action taken.

Naruna Road will be closed periodically throughout the coming weeks, city of Lampasas officials have announced. Contractors are relocating water lines in that area to prepare for the widening of U.S. Highway 281 South.
