Lampasas County 27th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings. Defendant Charles Cecil Simpson of Bertram entered a plea and was sentenced to 12 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for driving while intoxicated-third or more.

Fire damages home Wednesday morning

A Lampasas County woman escaped without injury from a fire that started in her home on Wednesday morning. At approximately 11:20 a.m., the Lampasas and Kempner fire departments were called to the fire in the 300 block of County Road 3064.

Lampasas resident Freida Holland shared this sunset photo of the view one evening this week from her front porch in the Woodland Acres subdivision on the southwest side of town. Holland said she enjoys the majesty of God’s creation as evidenced in the colorful hues of the clouds as the sun moves below the horizon.

Festival activities continue

Spring Ho activities are in full swing, with events planned from early morning into the late-night hours Friday and Saturday, and wrap-up events Sunday afternoon that include entertainment and a one-of-a-kind car show. Although some signature events such as the Spring Ho Beauty Pageant, Hayloft Party and Gospel Night with fireworks have concluded, plenty remains on the schedule to keep Lampasas residents and visitors occupied this weekend.

Pageant winners to represent Lampasas
