No injuries reported after residential fire on Race Street

First responders are unsure what led to a residential fire that resulted in no injuries Wednesday afternoon at 208 S. Race St.

Emergency agencies received a call reporting a fire at 1:04 p.m., with Lampasas Police Department units being the first to arrive on the scene two minutes later. The Lampasas Fire Department arrived shortly afterward.

“When we arrived at the scene, there was an RV, three vehicles, an outbuilding and an accessory structure were all involved,” Lampasas Fire Marshal Bart Baker told the Dispatch Record. “The primary residential structure was just starting to catch on fire.”

Baker said Lampasas Fire Department firefighters were successful in stopping the flames from spreading throughout the home.

“It took a little bit of exterior damage and a couple of broken windows, but overall they were able to stop it from doing any actual damage to the inside structure of the house,” Baker said.

The homeowners were not present when flames erupted. Baker said firefighters were able to ensure the safety of two dogs present inside.

The fire department received assistance from the Lampasas Volunteer Fire Department and Copperas Cove Fire Department. Lampasas Public Utilities staff also were on the scene.

Baker said first responders left the site around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The fire marshal is continuing his investigation into the cause of the fire but said more than likely the origin will be undetermined. He said the department has some information that indicates the blaze was isolated to the recreational vehicle or a Jeep Wrangler on the property.
