GRAND JURY

Lampasas County grand jury convened Wednesday to continue the July term. Investigator Wayne Hilgenberg of the Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office presented information that resulted in two indictments: Zachary John Dabney on a charge of possession of a controlled substancemethamphetamine on April 28.

LISD to crack down this year on e-cig, nicotine products on campus

Any student attending Lampasas Middle School or Lampasas High School who is caught with a nicotine or tobacco product will be subject to time at the Disciplinary Alternative Education Program campus. During Monday’s meeting of the Lampasas Independent School District Board of Trustees, members recommended the DAEP punishment for first-time e-cigarette offenses.

County in critical fire risk

In the charred wake of four wildfires in Lampasas County, the National Weather Service issued more red flag and excessive heat warnings Thursday morning. According to Lampasas Volunteer Fire Department officials, the 60-acre Lucy Creek fire was contained as of 7 p.m.
