Blood drive draws large number of donors

The American Red Cross Lampasas Community Blood Drive held Sept. 9 was a big success, drive coordinator Wanda Lang said.Seventy participants donated 73 units of blood.

Dozens of Lampasas County residents competed in Storm’s Drive-In’s cornhole tournament on Saturday to celebrate the iconic Lampasas restaurant’s 75th anniversary and attempt to win cash prizes and a set of custom Storm’s cornhole boards.

national merit scholarship programThe National Merit Scholarship Corp. has announced the names of more than 16,000 semifinalists in the 71st annual National Merit Scholarship Program.
Cort Maples participated in the West Texas Fair & Rodeo in Abilene over the Labor Day weekend. In 2024, he won Reserve Grand Champion Heifer and came back this year to try to top that accomplishment. He showed three of his Miniature Hereford heifers and a Miniature Hereford bull. Maples won Grand Champion Female with his heifer, Lena, in the Junior and Open Shows. The annual Indian Artifact & Mineral and Gem Show has a new partnership with a locally produced artifact magazine.The show is hosted this year by Vision Lampasas in association with Texas Cache Magazine, which is a brand-new partnership, said Dorinda Barrett, Vision Lampasas past president.
