After several days straight of unrelenting subfreezing weather, Lampasas is expected to see more snow Feb. 14-15 with temperatures possibly dropping to single digits or below zero. Wind chills could be extremely dangerous to people and pets outside.

Lampasas mayor says she will not seek re-election

Lampasas Mayor Misti Talbert announced Friday that she will not seek another term. At press time Monday morning, one person -- business owner Myles Haider -- had filed to run for mayor in the May 1 election. Talbert used Facebook to announce her decision.

Cancellation strikes Lometa Diamondback Jubilee again

Lometa’s biggest annual festival, the Diamondback Jubliee, is canceled for the second year in a row. Stephen Ruzicka, president of the Lometa Lions Club which runs the annual event, made the announcement last week.

Attorney Zachary Morris filed to seek the Place 1 Lampasas City Council seat in the May 1 election. At press time, Morris was the only candidate for the position -- currently held by Delana Toups. Place 2 incumbent Randy Clark has filed to seek re-election.

BURN BAN SUSPENDED AT PRESS TIME

At press time, the county burn ban remained lifted until Feb. 15 at 5 p.m. When the ban is lifted, controlled outdoor fires are allowed outside Lampasas, Kempner and Lometa city limits. To verify the burn ban status, visit www.co.lampasas.tx.us.
