After several days straight of unrelenting subfreezing weather, Lampasas is expected to see more snow Feb. 14-15 with temperatures possibly dropping to single digits or below zero. Wind chills could be extremely dangerous to people and pets outside.

Icy weather on Thursday brought travel hazards, cancelations and schedule changes across Central Texas. The region is expected to stay near or below freezing for several days, with even colder temperatures expected the week of Feb. 14.
KWTX Morning Meteorologist Sean Bellafiore said all-time cold records could be challenged by the upcoming front, which may include a high temperature of 15 degrees on Monday and actual temperatures Tuesday morning could be between -3 and +5 degrees. Inches of snow are possible Sunday night and Monday morning.
LCRA Chief Meteorologist Bob Rose also predicted Central Texas could see "some of the coldest air our region has seen in more than 30 years
Frozen precipitation on Thursday led to Lampasas ISD and Lometa ISD canceling in-person classes on Friday. A reopening date is subject to change, based on weather in upcoming days.
Lampasas' and Lometa girls' basketball playoff games, both scheduled for last Thursday night, were postponed until Saturday (Feb. 13) during a small window of more reasonable weather.
Other Lampasas and Lometa sports events are postponed for the time being.

Lampasas Fire Department responded to five accidents in a short timespan Thursday morning. Three of those were on on U.S. Hwy 281 north of Lampasas and two were on U.S. 183 north.
Lampasas Police Department received a report of "severe ice" on West Sixth Street, and Sheriff Jess Ramos said there was sludge accumulation on U.S. Highway 183 South and North, U.S. Highway 190 east of Lampasas and U.S. Highway 281 North and South.
US Hwy 183 South toward Burnet County appeared to be ok at that time. There was sludge accumulation in Lampasas County, less in Burnet County up to Mesquite Creek.
US Hwy 281 experienced some car crashes running off the road approximately 8 miles south of Lampasas.
US Hwy 183 North toward Lometa has accumulated more sludge with some icy spots causing traffic to slow down or pull over.
US Hwy 281 North toward Hamilton has also accumulated more sludge with some icy spots.
US Hwy 190 between Lampasas and Copperas Cove has accumulated sludge with icy spots on the Lampasas River bridge.
TxDOT crews are out monitoring roadways and sending crews to problemed areas to spread sand/salt mixture.
