Lampasas County 27 th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings. Defendant Max Castaneda Jr. of Lampasas pleaded guilty and was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram.

Lampasas County grand jury convened Wednesday to open its newest term. Investigator David Thorp of the Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office brought information that resulted in the indictment of Karen Linda Perez on a charge of injury to a child on Jan. 2.

CATTLE AUCTION

The report from the Feb. 10 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 480, compared to 1,173 last sale and 159 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, stockers were $1- $3 lower; feeders steady. Slaughter cows were $1-$3 higher, and slaughter bulls were steady.

The Feb. 4 market report from Mills County Commission Co. follows. Total receipts: 1,740. Previous week: 3,247. Trends: Light kids $5-$10 higher. Slaughter kids steady to $5 higher; slaughter nannies steady; replacement nannies $10 higher. Wool lambs, Dorper lambs and Barbado lambs all $10 lower.

County reappoints health authority

Dr. Georgia Hay will continue serving as the county’s local health authority – but only for a few more months. The Lampasas County Commissioners Court approved the reappointment Monday in a 4-0 vote, with Precinct 2 Commissioner Jamie Smart absent.
