Lometa One-Act Play qualifies for state competition

The Lometa One-Act Play qualified for the state competition. At the recent regional round, Jayme Wills received the Best Actress award, and Adalee Hale was chosen for All-Star Cast.

CEMETERY ASSOCIATION

The annual meeting of Hillsdale Cemetery Association will be May 15 at 9 a.m. The cemetery is located on Slater Road northeast of Izoro. The GPS address is 278 Hillsdale Rd. in Coryell County.

Bake sale to fund child abuse prevention

The Cherry on Top will host a child abuse awareness bake sale Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. at 407 S. Western Ave. All proceeds will be donated to the Child Abuse Prevention Association.

New county jail passes first inspection

A new internet service contract and inspections passed were among the topics highlighted by Sheriff Jess Ramos during the Lampasas County Commissioners Court meeting last week.

Early voting begins

Monday started the early voting period in Lampasas County, and there are several races on the various municipal ballots. Both Lampasas and Kempner mayoral positions are up for grabs, along with council seats in Lampasas and Lometa. Early voting ends April 27. Election Day is May 1.

Lampasas City Council begins FY 2022 budget talks

Lampasas City Manager Finley deGraffenried advised there will be “more unknowns” when it comes to Fiscal Year 2021 year end projections and the upcoming FY 2022 budget. During last week’s council workshop session, deGraffenried gave an overview of what lies ahead during initial budget talks.
