Lampasas High School students recently participated in the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America state competition in Dallas, accompanied by their FCCLA adviser Jason Walsh. Hannah Gessner finished second in Mystery Basket competition, earning a $3,000 scholarship.

Sheriff’s deputies assist with high-speed chase

Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office deputies were involved with a recent high-speed chase that resulted in the arrest of an Elgin man. The department issued a news release with an account of the incident. On Sunday at 9:12 p.m., Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office Sgt.

DISTRICT COURT

Lampasas County 27 th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings. Defendant Steve Wayne Moreno of Lampasas entered a plea of guilty to a thirddegree charge of indecency with a child-exposure, and he was found guilty by the court.

ARRESTS

The following arrests were reported to the Lampasas Dispatch Record by area law enforcement officials. The Dispatch Record prints the name and charge(s) of people arrested on at least one Class B misdemeanor – or more serious – charge.

Kindergarten registration slated

The Lampasas Independent School District will hold its annual “Pre-K/ Kindergarten Round-up!” on April 21 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at all three elementary campuses: • Hanna Springs Elementary, 604 East Avenue F in Lampasas. • Kline Whitis Elementary, 500 S. Willis St. in Lampasas.

Fire Wednesday night damages Lometa business

Five fire departments responded to a late Wednesday night fire that damaged a Lometa business. Lampasas Fire Department was dispatched to the Lometa Trading Post at 11:23 p.m. for a structure fire. No injuries were reported, and no animals were harmed.

Lampasas High School to host COVID-19 vaccination days

The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine will be available at no cost at the Lampasas High School cafeteria, 2716 South U.S. Highway 281, on April 24 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Those 18 years and older are eligible. Vaccinations will be by appointment only.
