The Santa Fe Independent School District Board of Trustees on Tuesday named Dr. Kevin Bott its lone finalist for the district’s superintendent position. Bott — the Lampasas Independent School District’s assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction -— was selected out of 50 applicants.

The April 28 Lampasas Cattle Auction report follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 354, compared to 414 last sale and 476 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, feeder steers and heifers were $7-$10 lower. Slaughter cows were steady to $2 higher, and slaughter bulls were steady.

About 20 members of the Texas Farm Bureau, the state’s largest general farm and ranch organization, heard from U.S. Rep. Roger Williams Friday on several legislative priorities he is pushing to benefit Texas farmers, ranchers and rural areas.

BNSF Railway will close a section of FM 580 East (Avenue J) in Lampasas on Wednesday to perform maintenance on a railroad crossing. The closure will extend from just east of McLean Street to just before North Stanley Street. Work will begin at 7 a.m.
