Commencement Exercises on tap for 16 Lometa graduates

Lometa High School will hold its Commencement Exercises May 21 at 8 p.m. Due to the potential for bad weather, the graduation ceremonies will move indoors. Superintendent Rob Moore will offer welcome remarks, followed by the invocation, delivered by Jose Enrique Caso Prado.

L-M Garden Club installs its officers for the 2021-2022 club year

Lometa L-M Garden and Civic Club had its last meeting of the year on May 17 at the club building in Lometa. Hostesses for the evening were Martha Little, Sue Anderson and Mary Montgomery. They provided several tasty, finger-type foods and a variety of drinks.

It has been an interesting year for the Badger Band. Navigating UIL regulations, TMEA rules, TEA guidance and virtual learning, the Badger Band has pushed forward and continued to thrive. Band Awards Night was held May 14.

Lometa school board ends mask mandate

The Lometa Independent School District Board of Trustees voted Wednesday to end the district’s mask mandate at 3 p.m. that day. Face coverings remain optional for those who choose to wear them in response to COVID-19, but Lometa ISD no longer requires the wearing of masks.

CENTRAL TEXAS COLLEGE Central Texas College held spring graduation ceremonies May 14 at the Bell County Expo Center. Keynote speaker was Texas Senator Dawn Buckingham, who provided a virtual commencement address. Among the graduates were: Amber Grant of Kempner, associate of applied science.
