DISTRICT COURT

Lampasas County 27 th Distric Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings. Defendant Abraham Rodriguez of Lampasas entered a plea of guilty to a charge of engaging in organized criminal activity, and he received five years’ deferred probation.

The following arrests were reported to the Lampasas Dispatch Record by area law enforcement officials. The Dispatch Record prints the name and charge(s) of people arrested on at least one Class B misdemeanor – or more serious – charge.

Livestock ordinance town hall draws dozens

The news of a proposed law to control the type and number of fowl and livestock allowed at Lampasas residences generated quite a buzz around town. Dozens of people attended a town hall meeting Monday night to learn more.

Sales tax revenue climbs for most cities in the area

Sales tax allocations across the state were up 31.5% in June, according to Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar. Economic activity that was suppressed due to coronavirus concerns last year continues to rebound in 2021. Central Texas cities also are showing growth in their monthly sales tax rebates.
