Nearby cities’ sales tax income continues to surge

All entities in Lampasas County and the surrounding area posted gains in their local sales tax rebates this month. And several cities – Lampasas, Marble Falls, Evant and Goldthwaite – have yet to see a month in 2021 in which their sales taxes dipped below 2020 levels.

Repairs planned on East Avenue B

Lampasas’ street department will repair East Avenue B from Hackberry Street to Gamel Street. The work was scheduled to begin Aug. 16 and continue about one week, officials said. Vehicles, boats and trailers need to be moved off the street between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Kempner mayor pro tem Jones resigns

Mayor Pro Tem Jared Jones has resigned from his Kempner City Council position, citing complications with his chain of command as he transitions into becoming a military officer. On Friday, city staff announced Jones’ resignation, effective immediately.

BURN BAN IN EFFECT AT PRESS TIME A county burn ban took effect Wednesday and is scheduled to remain in effect until Nov. 8. The ban prohibits outdoor burning outside Lampasas, Kempner and Lometa city limits.

Evant to hold Meet the Teacher event

Evant Independent School District will host a Meet the Teacher event on Monday from 5:30-7 p.m. Participants will gather in the gym, where all faculty and staff will be introduced.
