County population up 10% from 2010-2020, census says; city records 9% gain
Population densities in the county vary widely, based on the 2020 U.S. Census. The Kempner area -- in yellow and blue -- has about as many residents as does the city of Lampasas. In contrast, the pink area that accounts for two-thirds of the county’s land mass has only about a third as many residents as live in Lampasas city limits. Although the overall United States population — and the population in many urban areas — increased from 2010-2020, the U.S. Census Bureau recorded a decline in residents in many counties across the nation (as shown in red).
