Tips on landowner legal issues available through AgriLife course

Many state and federal laws regarding land ownership can be complicated, but a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service course helps make the content more accessible to landowners.

DISTRICT COURT

Lampasas County 27th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings. Defendant Robert L. Hughes of Lampasas pleaded guilty and was found guilty of burglary of a habitation-intend to commit other felony.

GRAND JURY

The Lampasas County grand jury convened Wednesday as part of the July term. Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Wayne Hilgenberg presented information that led to indictments against the following individuals: David Anthony Woodall on a charge of theft on Jan. 7, 2020.

Commissioners Court votes for burn ban until Nov. 8

A county burn ban took effect Wednesday and is scheduled to remain in effect until Nov. 8. The ban prohibits outdoor burning outside Lampasas, Kempner and Lometa city limits.

CATTLE AUCTION

The report from the Aug. 11 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 484, compared to 778 last sale and 479 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, stockers were $3-$5 higher; feeders were steady to $3 lower.

SHEEP, GOAT AUCTION

The Aug. 5 market report from Mills County Commission Co. follows. Total receipts: 1,895. Previous week: 1,907. Trends: Light kids $5- $10 higher. Slaughter kids and slaughter nannies steady; replacement nannies steady. Wool lambs $5 higher on lightweights; heavy lambs steady.

Sheriff’s office to increase citation fees

Lampasas County residents will see an increase in citation fees next year. Sheriff Jess Ramos gave a short report Monday to the Lampasas County Commissioners Court on the new rates, which the court approved unanimously.
