Hunters’ Welcome event set for Nov. 5

The Lampasas County Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual welcome event for hunters and other visitors to the area just in time for the deer season general opener. The Hunters’ welome offers a barbecue meal for $8 that can be picked up between 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the H-E-B parking lot.

Middle school to honor veterans with special breakfast, program

Lampasas Middle School will recognize Veterans Day this year with a special breakfast and program on Nov. 10. Breakfast for veterans will be served beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the middle school cafeteria, 902 S. Broad St., and the program will start at 9:30 a.m. in Bozarth-Fowler Gymnasium.

Scout troop to begin food drive

Boy Scout Troop 200 will begin its food drive Nov. 6 for local families in need. The troop will drop off donation bags at local residents’ doorsteps and return to pick up the bags on Nov. 13. Last year, the troop collected more than 2,000 pounds of food for the local food bank.

Teens go to hospital after car hits tree

Police officials say three juveniles were transported to a nearby hospital after the SUV they were riding in crashed into a tree. On Monday around 3:40 p.m., Lampasas police responded to a car crash on Crider Lane in southern Lampasas.

Lampasas jail will house inmates from Llano County

A unanimous vote by the Lampasas County Commissioners Court on Monday resulted in a new agreement to house out-of-county inmates inside the new jail facility. The agreement between the Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office and the Llano County Sheriff’s Office will take effect retroactively, as of Oct.
