Old house on Lometa ISD property to be demolished

Some of the most pressing decisions for school districts come in the form of building maintenance. For the Lometa Independent School District, one of these choices was made at Thursday’s Board of Trustees meeting.

BRUSH CHIPPING The city is offering free curbside brush chipping through Wednesday on the northeast side of town, north of First Street and east of Key Avenue. Also, there will be no charge this month for brush drop-off at the Citizens Collection Station.

Lampasan retires after four decades at Ajinomoto

Today, Robert Groves will retire after 40 years at the Ajinomoto Foods North America plant in Lampasas. “I guess I figured 40 years was enough,” he joked. Groves began working at the plant on Nov. 16, 1981, at the age of 29.

Garden club celebrates Thanksgiving early

Lometa L-M Garden and Civic Club had its annual Thanksgiving meal with family and friends Monday at 7 p.m. at the club building. Approximately 13 garden club members were present with family, for a total of almost 30 people.

The L-M Garden and Civic Club of Lometa will sponsor the Part-Time Players in a musical variety show called “Towns in Texas.” Performances will be Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Lometa School cafetorium.
