Court dates reset for three sexual assault cases

Three sexual assault cases are awaiting future jury trial dates after resets by the Lampasas County 27 th District Court. Two defendants – Ryan Nelson Bass of Waco and Zachary Austin Kelley of Lampasas – had jury trials slated on Nov. 15, but those were rescheduled, court officials said.

Lampasas County 27 th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings. Defendant Chayo Boy Rendon of Lampasas pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram and was found guilty.

As Lampasas has grown over the past 10 years, city officials got to work responding to the opportunities brought by that growth to help the city and its residents flourish. The growth was predictable because of Lampasas’ proximity to other cities and the intersection of several U.S. highways.

County adopts new commissioner precinct boundaries

Some Lampasas County residents will have a different commissioner representing them, effective with the new year. On Tuesday, the Lampasas County Commissioners Court held a public hearing on redrawing commissioner precincts, followed by a vote.
