FOOD PANTRY St. Mary Catholic Church will hold its monthly drive-through food pantry on Friday from 10:30 a.m. to noon. All in need are welcome. Come to the church parking lot at 701 N. Key in Lampasas, and volunteers will load up the vehicle with groceries.

Texas Farm Bureau to hold 88th annual meeting next month

Farmers and ranchers across the Lone Star State will meet in Corpus Christi in December as part of the 88th annual meeting of the Texas Farm Bureau (TFB), the state’s largest general farm and ranch organization.

In an address to Kempner residents on Thursday, Col. Chad Foster, Fort Hood garrison commander, said citizens and veterans alike should look to be unified by their differences. “Veterans help connect the public with the military by sharing their stories and experiences,” the colonel said.

Lamar Lewis announces Texas Senate campaign

Lamar Lewis of Temple has declared his candidacy for the Texas Senate District 24 race. The incumbent, State Sen. Dawn Buckingham of Lakeway, is not running for re-election to the seat. She is seeking a statewide post. Lewis has been district director for House District 55 for almost six years.

Under the warmth of the morning sun, more than 200 people gathered at the Lampasas County Courthouse for a Veterans Day ceremony. Every year on Nov. 11, active-duty military, veterans, military families and others commemorate Veterans Day.
