DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME Residents should be prepared to turn their clocks ahead one hour this weekend, as Central Daylight Time begins March 13 at 2 a.m. The federal law that specifies daylight saving time applies from the second Sunday of March until the first Sunday of November.

Free tax preparation assistance available

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide will offer free, in-person tax preparation services at the Lampasas Senior Center, 901 S. Live Oak, by appointment only, through April 12. Appointments are available on Tuesdays. Call 512-525-3854 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. to schedule a time.

Scouts stay aboard USS Lexington

A group of 56 Lampasas County parents, leaders and Scouts from Troop 200, Troop 400 and Pack 100 were among the 320 people to stay aboard the USS Lexington on a recent February weekend. The Scouts slept in bunks similar to what sailors would have stayed in when the ship was active.

Student earns money in calf scramble
