The Lampasas County grand jury convened Wednesday as part of its January term. Investigator David Thorp of the Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office offered information that led to these indictments: John Keith Neimann on a charge of possession of a controlled substancemethamphetamine on Oct. 31, 2021.

CIRCUS TO PERFORM The Culpepper & Merriweather Circus will offer two performances in Lampasas on March 29, sponsored by the Lampasas Kiwanis Club. The big top will be set up at the corner of East North Avenue and South Western for shows at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Firefighters extinguish multi-structure fire

Lampasas County fire departments responded to multiple incidents in one day last week. The first reported fire was March 1 near a church in Kempner around 10:30 a.m. It was contained shortly after 11:15 a.m. Copperas Cove Fire Department assisted in the cleanup.

The report from the March 2 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 460, compared to 302 last sale and 435 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, feeder steers and heifers were $2-$4 lower. Slaughter cows were steady to $2 higher, and slaughter bulls were steady.
