Work to rehabilitate the roadway along several blocks of East Third Street is nearing completion. The project has been on a list of “high-need” repairs for some time.

Lometa councilwoman submits resignation

Marsha Laughlin’s time serving her community on the Lometa City Council has come to an end. Laughlin gave Mayor Stephen Hicks her resignation notice on March 8. The resignation has not yet been approved officially by the council, as it came one day after the governing body held its last meeting.

The report from the March 23 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 417, compared to 648 last sale and 446 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, feeder steers and heifers were steady. Slaughter cows also were steady, and slaughter bulls were steady to $3 higher.

BRUSH CHIPPING CONTINUES The city-sponsored brush chipping collections continue in Lampasas. Today is the last day for the southeast section of the city. Next week, brush chipping will be done in the northeast section of the city, east of Key Avenue and north of First Street.

Demolition continues on former jail

It could be another week or two before demotion of the former county jail is complete. On Friday, Alamo 1 Environmental crew members were seen at the East Fourth Street site, dismantling the jail building that sits adjacent to several local businesses and across from the county courthouse.
