GOLF COURSE WORK The Hancock Park Golf Course in Lampasas will be closed April 4-5. The greens are scheduled to be aerated those days, and then they will be sanded. The sand helps to improve air and water flow to the turf roots.

The Third Street repaving project should be completed within two weeks, city officials said. Work to rehabilitate several blocks of East Third Street began in January.

The Lometa L-M Garden and Civic Club held its monthly meeting March 21 at the garden club building, with about 12 members present for the program and business portion.

The year has been a good one for the Lampasas County Retired Teachers Association, president Julia Phillips said. She offered an update. “We have met every month,” she said. “Our speakers have been knowledgeable and so interesting. We’ve even had door prizes.

Early-morning crash damages parked vehicles on Second Street

A driver going at high speed damaged several parked cars near the downtown area Sunday. Lampasas Police Department officers were called to the historic Keystone Star Hotel on East Second Street shortly before 5 a.m.

Lampasas County 27th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings. Defendant Douglas Christopher Wheat of Kempner pleaded guilty and was found guilty of driving while intoxicated-third or more.
