With two weeks left in the school year, the Lampasas Independent School District is gearing up for summer learning. Chief Financial Officer Shane Jones reported to trustees May 2 that the staff is busy with end-of-course exams and professional development.

This week and next week, physicals will be offered to all students who need one once this week and twice next week. Starting from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the field house and continuing next Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the middle school (BF Gym) and on Wednesday from 9 a.m.

Saturday was Election Day, and area voters headed to the polls to choose representatives for the Lampasas City Council, Lampasas Independent School District and Lometa City Council along with two statewide amendments.

Bullhorn BBQ team named grand champion of LTX event

The LTX BBQ Fest drew a good group of participants for the competition. The event was held April 30 in conjunction with the Riata Roundup Rodeo at the 580 Sports Complex in west Lampasas. Taking grand champion honors was the team Bullhorn BBQ, with head cook Rob Arocha.

The Lampasas FFA Agricultural Communications team captured third place Saturday at the state FFA contest in Lubbock. Haylee Finley was the sixth-place individual, and Paige Rutland was the 10th high individual with a record-setting perfect score on editing.
