Texas 4000 for Cancer at ATLAS Ride

Texas 4000 for Cancer, the nonprofit organization at the University of Texas at Austin dedicated to cultivating student leaders and engaging communities in the fight against cancer, begins its Day One summer ride from Austin to Anchorage on June 4.

Library hosts ‘Fishing 101’ tutorial at W.M. Brook Park

Debbie Hicks, State Parks Division Colorado Bend State Park interpreter/resource manager, gives a quick demonstration Wednesday during the “Fishing 101” class at W.M. Brook Park. Lampasas Public Library sponsored the activity, where youth could get fishing tips and spend time casting their line.

Salvation Army to honor first responders on ‘Donut Day’

National Donut Day is today, and the Lampasas County Salvation Army is honoring first responders. Donut Day is an annual commemoration of the work frontline Salvation Army volunteers did during World War I.

Hanna Springs Elementary releases honor roll lists

Hanna Springs Elementary School has announced its A Honor Roll and A-B Honor Roll students for the final nine-week term, as well as for the entire school year.

Kid Fish & Camping in the Park set for tonight

Registration begins at 5 p.m. Friday for the city-sponsored Kid Fish event. Young anglers may bring their own fishing pole or borrow one from the staff. Prizes will be awarded Saturday at noon for those with the biggest catch. Youth who camp overnight must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Lee HealthCare Inc. has announced a new marketer for the Lampasas area. Anita Fields is a Licensed Vocational Nurse who has been in the field seeing patients. She now joins the marketing team.

Lampasas man pleads no contest in felony burglary case

A Lampasas man pleaded no contest in 27 th District Court recently to a charge of felony burglary. Cody Don Bell, 34, entered his plea May 20 to a charge of burglary of a habitation with intent to commit other felony, a second-degree felony offense.

DISTRICT COURT

Lampasas County 27 th District Court scheduled a brief break at the end of May but will resume hearings in June.
