Registered voters in the Lampasas Independent School District jurisdiction will have one more opportunity to cast ballots for their preferred school board member. Runoff candidates Kelsi Davis and Harvey Stinnett are vying for a seat on the LISD Board of Trustees.

TxDOT officials present U.S. 281 relief study

Tuesday night was the first of several presentations the Texas Department of Transportation is offering on a potential highway project. TxDOT, in coordination with the city of Lampasas, is conducting a feasibility study to explore a potential relief route around Lampasas.

Several Lampasas city streets to see rehabilitation work

Lampasas City Council has approved rehabilitation to 1.6 miles of streets within the city limits. In a unanimous vote on Monday evening, the council voted to award a bid for road surfacing and rehabilitation to Texas Materials in the amount of $395,038.

The City of Lampasas Public Works Department announced one city street closure Tuesday morning. Through the city's news flash, the department is asking drivers to avoid West Ave C today as the "road will be closed to allow for repairs.

County to lift burn ban through Wednesday

Lampasas County Judge Randy Hoyer is temporarily lifting the current burn ban, effective immediately.  The burn ban was put in place back in April, due to drought concerns, as wildfires had begun spreading in different areas of Texas.

Builders help initiate new construction science program at LHS

Local builders have initiated a mentorship program at Lampasas High School that will encourage students to consider careers in construction. About a dozen Lampasasarea building professionals came together late this spring to form a nonprofit organization called Creating Badger Builders.

Girl Scouts attend Kindness Kamp, visit police department

First Presbyterian Church recently hosted a Kindness Kamp for Lampasas Girl Scouts. Sixteen girls from four troops attended. Church member Joyce Taylor served as hostess for the group, with assistance from Penny Moore.
