The 68 th annual Texas A&M Beef Cattle Short Course will take place Aug. 1-3 at Rudder Tower in College Station. It is recognized nationally and internationally as the largest-attended beef cattle educational program of its type in the world.

Kempner holds successful community event

Farm Bureau to offer hamburgers at Kids’ Day

The Lampasas County Farm Bureau will offer a Children’s Barnyard Exhibit July 8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Gavin Garrett Soccer Field. The exhibit is part of Spring Ho Kids’ Day activities. In conjunction with the barnyard activity, 200 hamburgers will be given away.

Spring Ho fireworks on tap

While various fireworks displays will be available to celebrate Independence Day on Monday, the popular Spring Ho fireworks celebration will be featured at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday night in W.M. Brook Park after the conclusion of Gospel Night.

CATTLE AUCTION

The report from the June 29 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 742, Cattle and calves: Total cattle 742, compared to 777 last sale and 506 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, feeder steers and heifers were steady to $5 higher.

DISTRICT COURT

Lampasas County 27 th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings. Defendant Sheila Beth Parker of Lampasas pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of a controlled substance greater than or equal to 1 gram and less than 4 grams.
