County Fair names Best of Show, division winners

Best of Show in the adult division of the 2022 County Fair was Naomi Schroyer, who entered a quilt in the textile category. Reserve honors went to Amanda Hensley for her succulent in the horticulture category. Best of Show among the intermediate entrants was Katelyn Martin.

Lampasas library hosts Reptile Day for students

The Lampasas Public Library hosted numerous events for children in June, which featured various book readings and special activities such as a taekwondo presentation. One event had to be rescheduled, however, and finally was held last week.

While at the FFA State Convention in Fort Worth, Lampasas chapter members participated in two service projects: beautification of Cobb Park and donation of backpacks and school supplies for children in need.

CATTLE AUCTION

The report from the July 13 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 826, compared to 742 last sale and 639 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, feeder steers and heifers were steady to $5 higher.

Kempner adopts official city flag

The city of Kempner adopted an official city flag by unanimous vote of the council members last week. In a regular meeting July 12, the Kempner City Council approved the flag design, which will be unveiled at the city’s 25th anniversary celebration in August.
