Kempner WSC seeks new director

Kempner Water Supply Corp. is seeking applicants for a vacancy on its Board of Directors. KWSC officials said the vacancy occurred after a board member resigned in the spring. The vacancy was posted May 26, but currently there are no applicants, officials said. The position is a volunteer one.

A residence in Lometa burned during the early hours of Friday morning. Lampasas Fire Marshal J.P. Harris said the mobile home, located at 203 N. Second St., is a total loss, and that the cause of the fire is under investigation.

During its June 28 meeting, the Lometa City Council received a revised financial audit. According to San Sababased Certified Public Accountant Kevin Shahan, previously issued financial statements “should not be relied on” and need to be replaced with his corrections.

TxDOT holds public meeting to discuss U.S. 183 widening project

The Texas Department of Transportation’s Brownwood Division hosted a public meeting for Lometa residents last Tuesday on the project to widen U.S. Highway 183. The project would begin just south of Lometa at the U.S. 190 intersection and end at the U.S. 281 intersection in Lampasas.
