Lometa and Bend residents have lost faith in their water provider, which they say has offered unfavorable results and increased prices in the last few months. Complaints have stemmed from discolored water, poor communication from the Corix company and a lack of clarity regarding water quality.

A renewed county burn ban took effect Monday and is scheduled to remain in effect until Oct. 23. The ban prohibits outdoor burning outside the city limits of Lampasas, Kempner and Lometa.

An Amber Alert was issued Friday for three Kempner children after a custody dispute went awry. The state of Texas issued the Amber Alert at 9:54 p.m. Friday for three siblings: 6-year-old Christopher Robertson II, 4-year-old Christine Robertson and 3-year-old Kristen Robertson.
