Lometa ISD to continue free meals

The Lometa Independent School District has announced it will continue to operate the Community Eligibility Program under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program for the 2022-2023 school year.

Trial planned in child rape case

A jury trial has been scheduled for Dec. 12 for a Midland man accused in a Lampasas child rape case. Kasey Shannon Calvery, 43, originally was set for trial in Lampasas County 27th District Court in December 2021, but the case was reset.

Lampasas County 27th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings. Defendant Christopher Lee Henderson of Copperas Cove entered pleas of guilty and was found guilty of three separate charges of driving while intoxicated-third or more.

One dead after crash on FM 580W

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to a one-vehicle fatality crash at 3:19 a.m. Wednesday, according to a news release from the department. A 2022 Chevrolet pick-up truck, operated by 66-yearold Larry Carroll Derwacter of Lometa, was traveling eastbound on FM 580 west of Lampasas.
