A ‘thank you’ for Lometa teachers

Lampasas County 27th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings. Defendant Christon Lance Beamon of Moultrie, Georgia, entered a plea of guilty to two separate charges of theft from a person.

CATTLE AUCTION

The report from the Aug. 10 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 796, compared to 722 last sale and 484 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, feeder steers were $3-$5 higher, heifers steady to $3 higher.

City considers addition of two school officers

During a workshop Monday evening, the Lampasas City Council discussed the possibility of hiring two additional school resource officers. City Manager Finley de-Graffenried told the council that the Lampasas Police Department has three SROs.

Shooting accident leaves one dead in Lometa

Authorities reported an accidental shooting Monday afternoon near the 100 block of Private Road 2525 in Lometa. According to the Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting occurred around 4:25 p.m.

BUDGET HEARINGS The Lampasas Independent School District will hold a public hearing Aug. 22 at 6 p.m. in the LISD Administration Building, 207 W. Eighth St., to discuss the school district’s budget. A proposed tax rate of $1.2029 is being considered.
