School board honors outgoing member

DISTRICT COURT

Lampasas County 27th District Court convened Aug. 12 with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings. Defendant Joshua Jude Earl of Lampasas entered a plea of guilty and was found guilty of unauthorized use of a vehicle.

GRAND JURY

Lampasas County grand jury convened last week to continue the July 2022 term. Lampasas County Attorney John Greenwood and Assistant County Attorney Jessica Guy had information that resulted in the indictment of Keith Richard Hoffman on a charge of driving while intoxicatedthird or more on July 2.

School resource officer reassigned after accusation of inappropriate communications

A school resource officer was removed from a Lampasas ISD campus after an accusation of inappropriate communications between the officer and a former student, but the Lampasas Police Department said no criminal matters were uncovered in the investigation that followed.

Copperas Cove man indicted in child sex assault case

A multiple-felony offender was indicted last week on child rape charges. On Aug.

Phillips pleads no contest to lesser felony charge

A Lampasas man pleaded no contest to a felony assault charge in district court on Aug. 12. In a hearing in 27th District Court, John Carl Phillips, 45, entered his plea to a charge of assault causing serious bodily injury, a second-degree felony, with a sentence set by the judge.

Texas law enforcement to increase patrols as Labor Day approaches

The Texas Department of Transportation’s Drive Sober. No Regrets. campaign will see Texas law enforcement officers increasing their efforts to pull over motorists suspected of drunk driving from Aug. 19 through Sept. 5.

First-day enrollment numbers show increase on some campuses

Early statistics for the 2022-2023 school year show enrollment is up at Lampasas High School but down at Lampasas Middle School. First-day numbers were mixed this year for the elementary school campuses.
