Community enjoys Lometa Hometown Christmas

Bright lights, loud sirens and holiday music ushered in the parade escort carrying Santa Claus to the city of Lometa’s seventh annual Hometown Holidays event.

DISTRICT COURT PROCEEDINGS

Lampasas County 27th District Court convened recently with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings. Defendant Desland Ray Wallace of Lampasas entered a plea of true and was found guilty of aggravated assault on a date/ family/household member with a weapon.

CORRECTION

A photo was incorrectly identified in the Dec. 16 edition with the story titled “Whitehead pleads guilty; children recovered” that appeared on page 13. The name with the photo should have been Kristine Whitehead.

Vehicle-pedestrian collision injures man

A vehicle-pedestrian collision in Lampasas last week put a Lampasas man in a hospital, police officials said. Lampasas Police Lt. Chuck Montgomery said officers were called to the scene of a reported vehicle- pedestrian collision on Dec. 13 at 2:25 p.m.

Decked out for the holidays

The Lometa Police Department showed off its Christmas spirit Saturday night at the city’s Hometown Holidays event, greeting visitors with festive lights. To read more about the annual celebration, see page 5.

CATTLE AUCTION

The report from the Dec. 7 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 631, compared to 864 last sale and 904 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, feeder steers were $10-$15 higher, and heifers were $5-- $10 higher.
