Two county officials resign from posts

The Lampasas County Commissioners Court convened Monday for its first regular meeting of the new year. One of the important items on the agenda was handling the resignation of Precinct 4 Constable Mandy Esparza.

Filing for local elections approaches

Filing for city elections in Lampasas, Kempner and Lometa is inching closer. Multiple positions on the Lampasas and Lometa school boards also will be up for grabs. Filing for all positions will be offered from Jan. 18 through Feb. 17. Elections will be held May 6.

Area Crime Stoppers group receives state recognition for its work

Local Crime Stoppers volunteers will celebrate Crime Stoppers Month in January with a bit of extra recognition this year. On Dec. 21, Gov. Greg Abbott signed a proclamation designating January 2023 as Crime Stoppers’ Month.

Blood drive slated

The next American Red Cross Community Blood Drive is Feb. 14 from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Feb. 15 from 12:30-5:30 p.m. at First Street Church of Christ. To set up an appointment time, call 800-RedCross, go online to RedCrossBlood.org or use the RedCross app.
