Skateboarder displays skills

Pierian Club celebrates 120 years of community service to Lampasas

At its final meeting of the 2022-2023 club year, the Pierian Club and guests gathered at the home of member Carol Northington Wright to celebrate the organization’s 120th anniversary.

Wreck on FM 580E shuts down traffic

Traffic was shut down for several hours Thursday on FM 580 East after a garbage truck overturned. Lampasas Volunteer Assistant Fire Chief Tim Weinrick said dispatch officers received a report of the wreck at the intersection of FM 580E and FM 1715 at about 2:30 p.m.

Speech students take regional championship

One of Lometa ISD’s most successful programs is set to add to its history, as the Speech and Debate team won a regional championship. The team of Phallon Jones, Bao Nguyen, Sholee Turner and Jewel Groves participated at the regional tournament in Waxahachie.

Lometa ISD is exploring the option of changing the school schedule to adopt a four-day school week. The district recently posted a survey on multiple social media sites to give parents a voice in the decision.
