Poppy Day is May 26. American Legion Auxiliary volunteers will offer poppies in honor of all U.S. servicemembers who died in battle. Volunteers will be at My Girls and at Ace Hardware from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Friday to distribute memorial poppies.

Lampasas High School graduates mark milestone

Members of the Lampasas High School Class of 2023 file onto Badger Field for the start of commencement exercises Friday night. Even the scoreboard helped recognize the culmination of the graduates’ high school careers.

KWSC notifies of repair on FM 116

Updates: On Tuesday at 9:58 a.m., KWSC notified customers they expect to have repairs completed by Tuesday afternoon. "The excavation is underway and our crew is working hard to get the water line completely exposed for replacement.

Community Bridge to continue meeting over summer months

The Community Bridge group met May 8 for lunch and bridge, with five tables playing. Diane Richie took first place, Judy Smith was second, and Lou Wiginton was third. Linda Williams and Michelle Brown won the slam prize, and Barbara Mullican, Beth Griese and Mike Mullican took home door prizes.

Red Cross blood drive garners 71 units

The American Cross Community Blood Drive held last week in Lampasas saw 61 donors turn out. These donors gave a total of 71 units of blood. Ten donors were Power Red contributors, who are able to give two units each.

Prom activities move indoors this year

SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE UNIVERSITY SNHU has announced its Winter 2023 Dean’s List. Rachel Driskell of Lampasas and Natshly Laureano-Rosario of Kempner were recognized for this honor. Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a grade-point average of 3.500 to 3.

Preservation Texas announced its annual list of Texas’ Most Endangered Places on May 11 at the North Central Texas Regional Preservation Summit in Mineral Wells.
