Farm Bureau visits with lawmakers on Capitol Hill

Several Lampasas County Farm Bureau members recently joined about 260 members of Texas Farm Bureau in Washington, D.C., to promote important agricultural issues. Members met with a number of U.S. senators and representatives.

Kempner City Council makes election results official

At a special called meeting Tuesday night, the Kempner City Council moved to certify results of the special election held May 6. The vote count of 18 “For” and 16 “Against” Proposition One means the special sales tax levied within the city will rise from 0.25% to 0.5%.

Boy Scout receives Heroism Award for his role in river rescue

When 14-year-old Trent Royar was called to action, he didn’t flinch. At the Boy Scouts of America Troop 200 meeting on Monday, Royar was awarded the BSA Heroism Award for his role in the river rescue of 9-year-old Luke Sappenfield and his 15-year-old brother, Hunter.

NATIONAL POPPY DAY American Legion Auxiliary volunteers will offer poppies in honor of all U.S. servicemembers who died in battle. Poppy Day is May 26. Volunteers will be at My Girls and at Ace Hardware from 9:30 a.m. to noon to distribute memorial poppies.

Ag Communications team headed to nationals

The Agricultural Communications team for the Lampasas FFA chapter won first place in state competition at the end of April and will head to nationals in the fall.
