Four LHS students sign to defend freedom

Art students channel deep emotions, win state accolades

ALampasas High School senior and a sophomore placed at the state Visual Arts Scholastic Event held April 28-29. Sophomore Daphne Davenport’s inspiration for her piece entitled “Lantern of Will” was the emotion of hope and determination to overcome.

Senior trainers recognized for their work

Lampasas head athletic trainer Jan Brister has named three graduating seniors as student trainers of the year. Greenlee Chism, Emily Tower and Kewe Sanford have been committed to student training for several years, and they will be missed after their departure, Brister said.

Clary honored for volunteer work

Harrell Clary was recognized last Tuesday at the annual FFA banquet as the recipient of the Lampasas FFA Honorary Chapter Degree. Members thanked Clary for his involvement with the their greenhouse program and for the hours he helped in preparing the Plant and Range teams for state competition.

Bike trails roll forward

After years of slow but steady progress, a local group of mountain bike enthusiasts has initiated the next step in establishing trails at the 580 Sports Complex. About 34 months since the initial grassroots development of the trails, Lampasas citizens have taken matters into their own hands.

Last week’s release of sales tax figures by the state comptroller’s office offered mixed results for entities in the Central Texas area. About one-third of the cities tracked by the Dispatch Record saw their monthly tax allocation fall this period, compared to what they received in May 2022.
