County to lift burn ban through Wednesday

Lampasas County Judge Randy Hoyer is temporarily lifting the current burn ban, effective immediately.  The burn ban was put in place back in April, due to drought concerns, as wildfires had begun spreading in different areas of Texas.

Kids put on detective hats for ‘special mission’

Last Wednesday afternoon was a tough one for a group of 18 preteens. Inside the Lampasas County Higher Education Center, they were approached by Lampasas Police Department Lt. Investigator Charlie Boswell, who had a cup in his hand. One by one, each of the youth held the cup.

CLASS REUNION

CLASS OF 1977 The Lampasas High School Class of 1977 will celebrate its 45-year reunion on July 9 at the Charles “Choc” Gillen Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8539, 481 North U.S. Highway 183. Join with classmates from 2-5 p.m.

KempnerFest set for this weekend

The third annual KempnerFest is set for Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Sylvia Tucker Memorial Park.

Lampasas Riding Club summer rodeo begins tonight

The Lampasas Riding Club will host its fourth annual Lampasas Junior Rodeo tonight and tomorrow night, at the 580 Sports Complex arena located on FM 580 West. Both nights are set to begin at approximately 8 p.m. There is a $5 gate fee for admission.

Conservation is topic for next Green Thumb program

The Green Thumb Program, sponsored by the Highland Lakes Master Gardeners, will offer its next session on July 14 from 1-2 p.m. at the Marble Falls Library, 101 Main St. Guest speaker will be Brett Briant from the Lower Colorado River Authority. He will discuss water and soil conservation.

CATTLE AUCTION

The report from the June 15 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 688, compared to 379 last sale and 593 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, feeder steers and heifers were $5-$7 higher. Slaughter cows were $4-$6 higher, and slaughter bulls were steady.
